Are you confused with this conversation? this is the conversation between your procrastination monkey and your rational self.

Stay aware of procrastination monkey...HAHA YES the procrastination monkey within you, me, and every human on this planet...REALLY do every individual have their procrastination monkey???????

YESSSSSS!!! Everyone has a monkey in their head which interrupts their rational self and makes them fulfill immediate gratification without concern for future outcomes!!!!

let's have a close look at how the process of procrastination monkey works it works like the snooze button which is designed to give us more time and this monkey starts jumping when we keep on pairing snooze button panic monster that is our deadline.

procrastination is an utterly  psychological state

Digging deeper into the psychology of procrastination according to Dr. Joseph Ferrari is a professor of psychology in his book  "Still Procrastinating: The No Regret Guide to Getting It Done,"  says EVERYONE PROCRASTINATE, BUT NOT EVERYONE IS PROCRASTINATOR  which simply means a person living in present and compromising future for general gratifications is procrastinator on the other hand individual who is working in reality simultaneously taking care of further outcomes and cares about future more than just fulfilling immediate gratifications. Or simply we can say having control on the crazy procrastinating monkey and on the alarm clock.

a cross border study was done by RESSAT considering the impact of procrastination on stress tolerance of India (Kerela) and UAE of adolescents shows a significant negative correlation between variables of correlation and behavior pertaining to stress tolerance. when procrastination increases stress tolerance level decreases and lowers down performance due to poor study habit. it was found that both country student's stress level and performance decline due to course of procrastination.

late submission, bad scores, work overload in school, home, work, and in the relationship also is the result of procrastination.

according to Dr. Ferrari in his book says technology is playing a major role in procrastination, we can relate it with the snooze button of our alarm. there are some links between chronic procrastination and personality challenges like ADHD, passive-aggressive tendencies, revenge, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc.

it now became a tendency of an individual to act lazy or dawdling which we feel is natural with considering it as a habitual change of procrastination and practicing as a chronic procrastinator and moving toward the maladaptive lifestyle.

REMEMBER PROCRASTINATION IS NOT WATING RATHER DELAYING

now how to overcome! here are six techniques to overcome procrastination

1. Don't Be a perfectionist

it allows the perfectionists to postpone until the desired result is accomplished for example "until is not complete, It cant be judged"

2. don't be a dreamer

a dreamer yearns for an easy life with less pain and struggle which damages all facets of life.

3.  Stop worries

Expecting the worst, a stream of negative “what ifs” that predispose us to assume that taking an action will produce a disastrous outcome. The worrier has "better safe than sorry", go ahead with problems and work on them.

4. Stop being a crisis maker

crisis makers wait for the last to give their best as they think in the last moments they will give the best of their abilities and push themselves hard both mentally and physically and still lack in their potential results tho it is very common to all of us.

5. checkbox

maintain a daily checklist, mark yourself regularly, make realistic plans it will give you worth satisfaction.

6. use reinforcement

if you feel lazy or lack motivation attach your tasks with pleasant reinforcers(movie, chocolate, hangout, etc.)  and do vice-versa but the excess reinforcement can cause dependency.

"Procrastination is a habit, not an act"

  • Know yourself.
  • Be true to yourself, and then.
  • Just do it today, not tomorrow.
